The circular emblem of Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) has a glowing sun on which the gear wheel is placed, which houses the motifs of a diagram of an atom, a shoot of a plant coming out of a seed and an open book. On the border between the gear wheel and the sun the motto of the university name of the university is inscribed in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ and the name of the university in Devanagari separated by a pair of swastikas. The sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the gear wheel denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the open book signifies education, learning, knowledge and wisdom; the shoots emerging from seeds denotes fresh knowledge, ideas, new opportunities and growth potential and the diagram of an atom denotes science and scientific temperament.
