The circular seal of Maulana Azad University (MAU) has a monogram of its acronym ‘MAU’ written in blue, cyan and red, which is surmounted by a person with a mortarboard hat reading a book and its motto ‘Gain Knowledge Serve Mankind’ and supported by its year of established. These are ensconced by a white border with blue outlines inscribed with its name in Devanagari, Urdu and English and the name of the place. The person reading the book is the learner and the mortarboard hat or oxford hat symbolises her achievement, graduation and expertise; the open book denotes learning, education, knowledge and wisdom.

The circular emblem of the university has an orange eight toothed gear wheel bearing the university’s name in Meiteilon ensconcing the motifs of a pair of gear wheels, a student with mortarboard hat and a rising sun in the background of Kanglasha - Nongsaba, i.e. half lion and half dragon. EMBLEM OF HARYANA The state of Haryana was split from Punjab state on November 1,1966. The main part of the actual state was ceded to the East India Company in 1803. In 1832 it was added to the Northwest Provinces and in 1858 to Punjab to which it belonged until 1966. In the centre of the state the Principality of Jind was located. The emblem of Haryana shows a sun and a lotus-flower rising from a lake. The title of the emblem is 'Government of Haryana'.
