MAHAYOGI GORAKHNATH UNIVERSITY GORAKHPUR

The red and yellow circular emblem of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur (MGUG) has an image of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath ji is placed at the centre with a halo and glowing circles of red, orange and yellow and 35 light rays emanate from him. The name of the university surmounts the yogi. The central motifs are ensconced by a red circular border which carries its name in Devanagari. On a red banner placed below the circular seal the motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘स्वस्ति पन्थामनुचरेम्’ (Mantra 15, Sukta 51, Mandal 5, Rigveda) meaning ‘Let Us Follow the Path of Peace, Progress and Wellbeing’ and its year of inception are written ‘ॐ’ on sun at both the ends. The rays denote reverberating cosmic energy and eternal knowledge of heritage of Indian knowledge and the colours red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration and yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
