The circular emblem of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical Education University (HNBUMU) houses the motifs of a Staff of Caduceus or Staff of Hermes entwined with a pair of serpents and wings and crested by the rays of rising sun in the backdrop of Himalayan Mountains supported by an open book. Below the seal, on a white and blue banner its motto ‘Learn to Serve’ is inscribed. The staff represents medicine and medical profession; the sun rays denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the mountains denotes the geography of the locale; the open book denotes learning, education, knowledge and wisdom and the colour blue denotes serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.
