The Mahatma Gandhi Udyanikee Evam Vanikee Vishwavidyalaya (MGUVV) or Mahatma Gandhi University of Horticulture and Forestry has a predominantly green colour circular emblem. A circular flower houses a circular green banner on which its name and place are inscribed in Devanagari and English. Inside the border, a motif of a fully grown tree supported by an open book, inscribed with ‘We the people of India…’ in English and Devanagari. Below these its motto in Sanskrit ‘अत्त दीपोभव’ meaning ‘Be Your Own Lamp’, its year of inception and a bunch of blue flowers are placed. The flowers and the tree depict the field of study of the university; the tree denotes strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the open book denotes education, knowledge, learning and wisdom and the colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
