The emblem of the Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) has gear wheel, houses Ashoka Chakra, the national emblem surrounded by satellite antenna, a satellite, a bridge and a testing instrument. The gear wheel is inscribed with the name and place of the university.  Below the gear wheel, on a banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानं ज्ञेयं परिज्ञाता’ (Shloka 18, Chapter 18, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Knowledge, the Object of Knowledge and the Knower’. The gear wheel denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure and the other motifs denote engineering and technology.

PARAVANI The Paravani, Mayil, Mayura or the peacock is the vahana or vehicle of the Lord Karthikeya, Murugan, Subrahmanya, Skanda, Kumara, Saravana, Arumukha, Devasenapati, Shanmukha, Kathirvela, Guha or Swaminatha. The legend has it that the demon king Surapadman, with the boon he received from the gods had become invincible. He believed that he was immortal and began tormenting all across the universe. Lord Kartikeya confronted the Surapadman and he evaded the Lord’s attacks. The demon transformed himself into a large tree near Tiruchendur. Lord Kartikeya using his Vel, the divine spear struck the tree and split Surapadman into two halves. The demon sought forgiveness from the Lord and transformed the halves into Mayil or peacock and a rooster. The logo of university has the ‘samai’ that is the lamp in the centre symbolising that Sanskrit is like the lamp that is mild yet powerfully showing the path of knowledge though its peculiar qualities like calmness, sacredness and guiding force.
