The undulating, dynamic lines could symbolize the continuous flow of knowledge, innovation, and progress within the institution and also represent the diverse streams of education offered or the journey of learning. The colour green is associated with growth, nature, sustainability, and new beginnings; yellow represents enlightenment, intellect, optimism, and energy, reflecting the pursuit of knowledge and a positive learning environment; and magenta conveys creativity, passion, and vision, emphasizing the institution's aim to nurture innovative and well-rounded individuals.

The logo of the university has two strokes of orange and green forming the shape of ‘U’ in tricolour and has a ‘Ashoka Chakra’ at its top. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side.
