A banner inscribed with its motto ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya’ is placed on the shield, at the bottom. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; and the torch with flame symbolises is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power.

The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.
