The logo of Basaveshwar Engineering College (BEC) has an emblem with its initials ‘BEC’ written on the right in red sans-serif bold. The emblem features a circle with the motifs of set of books with a traditional lamp; a twig of leaves, laboratory equipment and an atomic structure; a pair of gear wheels, a transmission tower, a dam, and a pair of power symbols; a two-pan beam balance, and a factory; placed in the four quarters of a circle. The circle is surmounted by the name of the managing sangha, crested by ‘Nandi’ the divine bull and supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Work is Worship’. The motifs in the circle denote engineering education, knowledge, expertise and their application; and Nandi represents devotion, strength, and loyalty, particularly to education and Lord Shiva.

The central motifs of the winged Staff of Caduceus entwined by a pair of serpents crested with a flaming torch, supported by an open book and a pair of laurels replace the Lion Capital; and the name, place and motto of the college replace the name of the State. The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.
