The emblem of Mar Baselios Christian College of Engineering and Technology (MBC Peermade) features a shield holding the motifs of a flame placed in the centre of anatomic structure, an open book and a cross within a triangle, topped by a papal tiara and crossed keys, surmounted by its tagline ‘My Lord and My God’ and supported by its name and place. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book refers to education, knowledge, wisdom and learning; the cross refers to divine blessings and guidance; the atomic structure denotes science and engineering; and the flame refers to is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
