The emblem of MES Institute of Technology and Management (MESITAM) features a its initials in the centre of a circle circumscribed by an open book, a electrical transmission tower, a computer, a gearwheel and a satellite dish antenna and ensconced by a circular border inscribed with its name. The seal is crested by a hand holding a torch with flame and supported by a pair of laurels on the sides. Below the seal, on a banner, its motto ‘Oh Lord Enrich Me With Knowledge’ is inscribed. The motifs around the initials refer to the subject of engineering taught in the college; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
