Sharanabasaveshwara is a prominent saint and philosopher of the 18th century, known for his social reforms and spiritual teachings. His samadhi (tomb) is located in Gulbarga (Kalaburagi). Lingaraja is often depicted alongside Sharanabasaveshwara, he is considered a disciple or a closely associated spiritual figure in the same lineage. The cobra hood above their heads symbolizes divine protection and spiritual power.

The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.
