The blue gearwheel shaped emblem of Rajadhani Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET) features a shield housing a monogram of ‘RIET’ crested by a crown and supported by a banner with its initials ‘RIET’ and its motto in Sanaskrit ‘श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानम्’ (Verse 39, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘The Believer Attains Knowledge’. These are ensconced by a gearwheel inscribed with the name of the college and a pair of laurels. The crown denotes achievement, glory, power and authority; the shield refers to protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the gearwheel refers to interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
