This assemblage is supported by the emblem of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj with the letter ‘S’ depicted as Sudarshan Chakra placed on a glowing light. A pair of wings support the Sant’s seal. All the elements are placed over a yellow circle border inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया अमृतं अशनुते’ (Verse 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Knowledge Enjoys Immortality’. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure. The wings symbolise power, freedom, and authority, divine presence, protection, spiritual ascent, or inner balance.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
