| BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN |
The blue emblem of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan features a traditional lamp supported by sun placed an Indian throne inscribed with the motto of the Bhavan in Sanskrit ‘अमृतं तु विद्या’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Eternal’. Below the throne its motto in English ‘Knowledge is Nectar’ is written. These are circumscribed by the name of the institution in Devanagari and English separated by a pair of Swastikas. This seal is placed on a spread of 16-petaled lotus. The lamp refers to the illumination of knowledge and is aptly placed on a throne to revere it as the royalty and great respect; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the two swastikas are traditional symbols of auspiciousness, good fortune, and well-being in Indian culture; and the lotus refers to the cyclical nature of existence, purity, and divine beauty. Its sixteen petals represent the sixteen shaktis (powers) of the Vishuddha Chakra. Lotus is also a symbol of purity, beauty, and spiritual enlightenment in Indian traditions. The emblem’s elements collectively represent the Bhavan's ideology, which is the "resuscitation of Indian culture, revitalization of Dharma... on the foundation of faith, Self-discipline, and dedication”.
