The emblem of Fr. Conceição Rodrigues College of Engineering (FRCR CE) features a portrait of ‘Fr. Conceição Rodrigues’ placed in a circle and ensconced by a twelve-pointed blue star inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the star, on a blue banner, the name of the Complex is inscribed. The name of the college is written in script letters on the right along with the motto ‘Moulding the Engineers Who Can Build the Nation’. The star wheel or dodecagram, symbolises various concepts across cultures, including creation, balance, and harmony, and is linked to spiritual and religious figures like the twelve tribes of Israel, twelve disciples of Christianity, and twelve Olympians.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
