The emblem of Shree Tuljabhavani College of Engineering (STBCET) features a shield supported by decorative flourishes and inscribed with the motifs of the Goddess Shree Tuljabhavani symbolising the grace and blessings of the God; a pair of gear wheels; a factory; a dam of water; and a computer referring to the subject disciplines of engineering. On a banner placed above the shield the name and place of the college is inscribed and on the banner placed below the shield the motto of the college in Marathi ‘ज्ञान विज्ञान आणि संस्कृती संवर्धनासाठी’ meaning ‘For the Promotion of Knowledge, Science and Culture’ is inscribed. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of engineering.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
