The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the Saraswati Yantra represents Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, education, and the arts. This yantra is believed to invoke her blessings and enlightening energy.
