The circular seal of Rajendra Mane College of Engineering & Technology (RMCET) features a pictorial of an abstract butterfly holding the motifs of a computer, an open book, telecommunication equipment, a car, a motorcycle, a set of mechanical tools, engineering instruments, and medical technology equipment  referring to the different subject disciplines of technology and engineering studies. The butterfly is ensconced by a red circular border inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Work is Worship’ and the initials ‘RMCET’ of the college. The butterfly transformation, rebirth, hope, freedom, and beauty.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
