Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is a public technical university located in Rupnagar, Punjab, India. The emblem derives itself from Punjab, which means ‘five rivers’ (Beas, Satluj, Ravi, Chenab, and Jhelum). ‘Punj’ means 'five' and ‘aab’ means 'waters', so, 'Punjab' means 'land of five rivers'. This is the main focus of this logo, ‘the five rivers.’ The logo of has a deep inner meaning. The central element is made up of five students in the logo and the gear are working collaboratively, hand to hand in Punjab Pentagon, five people and five tools using different tools five ploughs in the logo to create or extract knowledge from the book. At the bottom of the emblem on a banner, it's tagline 'धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्' meaning 'Guide the Intellect in the Right Direction' is written.
