National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NITPY), nestled in the scenes of Karaikal, a coastal enclave in the basin of river Cauvery is one among the ten new NITs in the Union Territory of Puducherry. The predominantly blue colour circular emblem of NITPY has a shield in a circle having a book with one of famous Einstein's equations; a student with a trophy emerging from the book; a pair of laurels supporting these; a pair of flying birds symbolising freedom and discovery and waves of water supporting all these. The shield stands in the foreground of a glowing sun in blue colour with blue rays, symbolising openness and infinity. A white border separates this and the name of the institute written on the rim of this emblem. At the bottom of this assemblage, on a dark red colour banner, the name and place of the institute is written Devanagari, which is supported by stars.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
