The emblem of Government Degree College, Jindrah (GDC Jindrah) features a blue circle housing the motifs of an open book and a radiating traditional lamp and its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्याधनं सर्वधनं प्रधानम्’, which translates to ‘Knowledge is the Supreme Wealth’. The blue circle is ensconced by a white circular border with brown outline inscribed with the name of the college and its year of establishment. The book  serves as the fundamental symbol for formal education, academic learning, accessibility and the pursuit of truth; the radiant lamp represents intellectual enlightenment, the dispersal of the darkness of ignorance and personal transformation through education.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi.
