The emblem of Dogra Degree College, Samba (DDC Samba) features a light blue and blue circle inscribed with the motifs of a blue globe, a raised index finger with a rotating ring, an orange rising sun with radiating rays, a scale, a green fountain pen, a veena, a meditating human, an open book and a lotus. The circle is ensconced by a red circular border inscribed with the college’s motto ‘Knowledge for Legacy’ and the name of the managing body. The globe refers to higher knowledge, global awareness and absolute truth; the wheel on the index finger refers to Sudarshana Chakra of Lord Vishnu, which symbolises the wheel of time (Kala Chakra), cosmic order (dharma) and the destruction of ignorance; the radiant sun denotes the dawn of wisdom and the dispersal of the darkness of ignorance; the scale and the pen signify the integration of academic learning, legal studies and the creative arts; the veena refers to culture, heritage and arts; the meditating figure reflects self-discipline, inner peace and spiritual mindfulness as a foundational element of learning; the book is a literal foundation for education; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment and intellectual growth thriving amidst worldly challenges.
