The emblem of Jharkhand Vidhi Mahavidyalaya, Koderma (Jharkhand Vidhi) (JVM Koderma) features the motifs of blind folded Lady Justice (Justitia), a two pan beam balance, a sword and sun rays emanating from the centre ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and motto of the college in Devanagari, The motto in Sanskrit ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ (Mantra 3.1.6, Mundaka Upanishad, Atharva Veda ), which translates to ‘Truth Alone Triumphs’. The Lady Justice is a traditional symbol of the legal profession symbolising  impartiality, indicating that justice should be administered without bias regarding wealth, power or status; the scales are the scales of justice representing fairness, balance and impartiality in the legal process; the sword symbolises the authority and power of the law to enforce judgments and punish wrongdoing; and the sun rays symbolise the light of knowledge and the dispelling of ignorance.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

URDHVA PUNDRA TILAK Urdhva Pundra tilak or ‘Udharva Marka’ is a yellow ‘U’ mark on the forehead made with sandalwood paste and a red dot in the centre usually made out of ‘kumkum’ (saffron) worn by members of the Swaminarayan ‘Sampradaya’. In this sandalwood yellow signifies the Swaminarayan's feet, while the red dot signifies Lakshmi. Females adore themselves only with the red dot and not the ‘U’ mark. The tilak or chandlo is worn on chest and arms chanting the ‘Vasudeva’, ‘Shankarsharna‘, ‘Pradyumna’ and ‘Aniruddha’.
