The emblem of Nilaai Group of Institutions (NGI) (NILAAI) features a yellow gearwheel housing the motif of a shield inscribed with a torch and the name of the managing body. The shield is surrounded by the motto of the college 'Integrity Intelligence Intellect Trust’. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the colour yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
