GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC, BHAGA, DHANBAD (GP BHAGA)

The emblem of Government Polytechnic, Bhaga, Dhanbad (GP Bhaga) features a mining headframe (or derrick), which sits atop an underground mine shaft to lower workers and hoist raw minerals. It represents the institution's primary foundation as Asia's oldest mining engineering college, established in 1905. It honours the legacy of Dhanbad. Flanking the central derrick are stylised representations of industrial factory buildings, structural columns and scaffolding reflecting the transformation of the institute from a pure mining school into a comprehensive polytechnic institute. It symbolises engineering, technical advancement, automation, and modern infrastructure development. These elements are placed in a circle. The year of establishment of the college surmounts the seal and its motto in Devanagari ‘कर्म ही धर्म है’, which translates to ‘Work is Worship’.
