The emblem of DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Medininagar (DAVIET) features a yellow circle housing the motifs of a red glowing sun, a computer, a transmission tower and a gearwheel, its name and place, and its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) translates to ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’. The circle has an orbital ring depicted as an electronic circuit and Sanskrit ‘ओ३म्’ (ॐ). The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the orbital ring symbolises advanced technology, global unification, sustainable energy and the dawn of the Space Age; ‘ओ३म्’ or ॐ or Ohm is a symbol representing a sacred sound, syllable, mantra and an invocation; the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology; and the colour yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.
