The emblem of Guru Gobind Singh Educational Society's Technical Campus, Kandra, Bokaro (GGSESTC) features a yellow circle housing the motifs of a pair of crossed swords supporting an open book with a blue bird and supported by a the initials of the college and its motto in Gurmukhi ‘ਸਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੋ’ (Mundavani (ਮੈ 5) 1:1, Guru Granth Sahib: Part 1429, Page. 12) translates to ‘Truth Contentment Contemplation’ inscribed on a banner. This assemblage is ensconced by a blue gearwheel with red and orange teeth and supported by a pair of green laurels. In Sikh tradition, the sparrow is often used as a symbol of humility and courage against great odds; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the crossed swords are the traditional Sikh symbols representing justice, self-defense and the pursuit of truth; the gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. The name of the university is written on A banner at the bottom.
