The emblem of Hassan Shah Khoihami Memorial Government Degree College (HKM GDC) features a green grassland, mountains and blue sky, a blooming lotus, an open book, a waterbody, the text ‘Light Upon Light’ and Urdu text ‘نورٌ علىٰ نور’ in the form of a circle. These are ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The name of the college in Urdu is written on a red banner placed below the seal and the year of establishment of the college is written at the bottom. The mountains and the grassland reflect the physical location of the college campus resting atop a picture-perfect hill in Patushai; the book and the waterbody functions as a double metaphor representing both the pursuit of knowledge and the majestic Wullar Lake, onto which the campus directly overlooks; the lotus symbolises purity, resilience and the innate intellectual potential of students.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
