The shield is supported by a pair of laurels and the initials ‘JIS’ and name of the managing group. The motto of the college is written on a blue banner placed above the shield. The name of the college surmounts the assemblage. The motto in Sanskrit ‘नियतं कुरु कर्मत्वं (Verse 8, Chapter 3, Bhagavad Gita), which translates to ‘Perform Your Prescribed/Bounden Duty’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the light bulb symbolises a new idea, sudden inspiration and human intelligence; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the motifs symbolise science, engineering and technology.
