Gharda Chemicals Limited, established in 1967, is a research-based company with four manufacturing units. It has many firsts in the field of dyestuffs, pesticides, veterinary drugs and polymers. Its light blue logo has a hexagonal shaped three dimensional lid, in which the letter ‘G’ is placed. ‘Gharda’ in Devanagari is placed inside the counter of the ‘G’. Its name is written alongside.

Professor C V Raman worked at IACS during 1907 to 1933, and it is here that he discovered the celebrated effect that bears his name and for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
