NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DELHI
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DELHI |
National Institute of Technology Delhi (NITD) is one of the thirty one NITs established in the year 2010 by an act of parliament and has been declared as an Institute of National Importance. The emblem of NITD seems to have been inspired by architecture and building design concepts. It has its acronym arranged as blocks of buildings as walls, entrances, windows and openings, arranged one over the other. The ‘building’ has a curved finish of horizontal lines. This is ensconced by a circular border resembling the Greek Key or Meandros pattern. In Ancient Greece, the unbroken, interlocking pattern of the Meander (Meandros) or Greek Key, was one of the most important symbols; it symbolised infinity, unity and the eternal flow of life through reproduction. The long, continuous line, repeatedly folding back on itself, which resembles the perpetual flow of water, or waves, represents the eternal movement of life.
