The circular emblem of Mahendra Engineering College (MEC) features a gopuram superimposed by the sacred spear or ‘vel’ of Lord Murugan’ and supported by an open book placed in a circle with green outline. This circle is surrounded by the motifs of a computer, a dish antenna, a pair of electrical transmission towers, and a building referring to the branches of engineering courses offered by the college and a traditional lamp symbolising light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity. This assemblage is placed within a blue gearwheel referring to interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure. The name of the college surmounts the gear and a green banner inscribed with its motto ‘வாய்மை தூய்மை மேன்மை’ meaning ‘Truth Cleanliness Growth’.

DIRECTORATE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE SERVICES During 1983, the then Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet (SAC-C) under the overall guidance of an Expert Committee chaired by Prof. M. M. Sharma, FRS, recommended that the laboratories in Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad must be developed as Science and Technology institutions, functioning in an autonomous fashion. The green toned circular emblem of the university has a motif of a farmer tilling the soil using cattle and plough placed over an open book signifying the knowledge, wisdom and education of agriculture. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘कृषि मूलम् जगत् सर्वम्’ meaning ‘Agriculture is the Root of the World’ is written. All these are ensconced in two circular borders, of which one carries its name and place in English and the outer one carries its name and place in Devanagari supported by a pair of wheat ears. CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION The circular seal of the Central Water Commission has a five petalled flower with a water dam, a powerline on sea water, a borewell pump, plants of cereal and a high tension transmission line each placed inside a petal. The flower is placed in an orange circle and this assembly is ensconced by a yellow circular border, on which its name in Devanagari and English and its motto in Sanskrit ‘आपो ज्योति रसोऽमृतम’ meaning ‘May That Awakens Our Intelligence’ are inscribed.
