The wordmark logo of Chalapathi Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET) features a wordmark of its initials ‘CIET in red extra bold san-serif capitals with a shield cresting the letter ‘I’. The red and blue shield houses a globe ensconced by a gearwheel and circumscribed by a blue circular border. A blue halo circumscribes the shield. The shield refers to protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the gearwheel refers to ; the globe refers to education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness;  interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the colour red signifies passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration; and the colour blue signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
