he emblem of NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad (NSSCE) features a traditional lamp placed on a eight petalled lotus spread, circumscribed by its name, ensconced by a gearwheel and crested by a pair of laurels holding the monogram of ‘NSS’ and a crossed motifs of a sword and a hoe, and supported by a banner inscribed with its motto in Sanskrit ‘उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं’ (Verse 5, Chapter 6, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Elevate Yourself Through the Power of Your Mind’. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the lotus signifies purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the gearwheel refers to interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the hoe refers to agriculture; and the sword refers to power and governance.
