The light yellow and orange circular seal of E. G. S. Pillay Engineering College (EGSPEC) features a image of Lord Ganesha placed inside the Tamil letter ‘ஓம்’ and kept on a shield ensconced by a border inscribed with its name. On a banner placed below the shield,the name of the place of college is written. The shield is surmounted by the words ‘Work is Worship’ and ‘Truth Triumphs’ is written below the banner. All these are placed on a circle with a blue outline. Lord Ganesha refers to blessings and benevolence of the divine; the letter ‘ஓம்’ refers to Lord Murugan; and the shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery.

The logo of the Board is based on Devanagari letter ‘उ’ drawn using four swooshes, in which the cyan represents the mountains, blue represents the rivers, red represents the temples of the land and green represents the forests. SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963.
