The 30-pointed star shaped emblem of Pragati Engineering College features a circle housing the motifs of a lotus and swan on water supporting an open book and a veena, and placed inside a star. The word ‘ప్రగతి’ meaning ‘Progress’ is written above the book. Its motto in Telugu ‘విద్యా పరా దేవతా’ meaning ‘Knowledge is the Supreme Deity’ is placed below the seal. The lotus refers to purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the swan is sacred and is a symbol of grace and beauty; the open book refers to education, learning, knowledge and wisdom; the vena refers to culture, aesthetics and sensitivity; and the star refers to perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal.

INDIAN GRAPE PROCESSING BOARD Keeping the above in mind and to co-ordinate the efforts for promotion and development of the wine industry in India in close association with industry, producers and other stakeholders, the Union Cabinet in its meeting held on January 2, 2009 gave its approval for the establishment of the Indian Grape Processing Board (IGPB) under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Board has its headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra that is close to the principal grape growing and processing areas in the country. Its logo has a wine glass with a bunch of grapes and vine leaf in white in a light green circle, which is surrounded by its name in black sans serif text.
