The emblem of Suryodaya College of Engineering & Technology (SCET) features a glowing sun supporting the image of waves of water and an open book inscribed with the motifs of a building, a computer, a pair of gear wheels, a transmission tower, and a satellite dish antenna. These are supported by two banners inscribed with the name of the college. The assemblage is ensconced by an arch-like outline. The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the book refers to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of engineering.

In 2005 IX Corps (India) was raised in part of the 16 Corps' area, taking over two of its divisions. It is headquartered at at Yol. Engineering education in BHU started in 1919 with the establishment of Banaras Engineering College (BENCO).
