GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE, JAMMU (GMC JAMMU) The emblem of Government Medical College, Jammu (GMC Jammu) features a violet circle housing a shield inscribed with the motifs of a mountain range with blue sky and a lake, the Rod of Asclepius entwined with a pair of serpents, an open book, a red banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Service Before Self’ and a green cross. The circle is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the mountains range refer to local geography with the ragged peaks represent the Trikuta and Himalayan mountain ranges flanking the Jammu region; the Staff of Caduceus refers to medicine, healing and medical profession; the green cross symbolises first aid, medical assistance, safety and hospital care.
