KSGH MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS UNIVERSITY The emblem of KSGH Music and Performing Arts University (KSGM PAU) has a cyan circle with black outline housing a ‘dotara’ string instrument ensconced by a swan depicted stylistically. Its name is written around the circle in Kannada. The musical instrument represents the domain of the university and the swan represents Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Learning, education and knowledge. Its motto in Kannada ‘అనాదిగానే మిల చిత్తం’ meaning ‘My Love is Eternal’ is inscribed on a banner, placed at the bottom of the emblem.

The book refers to knowledge, learning, education and wisdom; the tree symbolises strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the colour green denotes  agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth and the colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

MANDYA UNIVERSITY The emblem of Mandya University (MUM) has the motif of the iconic monument of ‘Flag Satyagraha’ Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha in Maddur referring to the great freedom struggle, supported by a pair of sugarcanes representing the fertile lands of Cauvery river fed Mandya District. These are ensconced by a green circular border which is inscribed with its name in Kannada and English. A red banner is placed above the seal at the bottom on which its motto in Kannada ‘ಮನುಜಮತ ವಿಶ್ವಪಥ’ (Title of book of essays, Kuvempu) meaning ‘Humanitarian Path’ is inscribed. The colour green represents agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth and the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.

MANGALORE UNIVERSITY

MANGALORE UNIVERSITY The emblem of Mangalore University (MU) depicts its geography, history and tradition through a number of motifs. In the centre of a circle the motifs of rising sun above mountains and waterbody and trees are  placed representing the geography of the locale. It is ensconced by a yellow circular border on which its name is inscribed in Kannada and English. The circular seal is crested by a colourful headgear or ‘kirita’ of the famous folk dance form ‘Yakshagana’ and supported on either side by coffee plant branches with leaves and fruits for which the city and the State of Karnataka are famous for. At the bottom of the insignia, on a blue banner the motto of the university in Kannada ‘ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ-ಬೆಳಕು’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Light’ is inscribed.

NATIONAL LAW SCHOOL OF INDIA UNIVERSITY The brown colour shield is the insignia of the National law School of India University (NLSIU) has a two-pan beam balance representing justice as wielded by statues of Lady Justice and the supporting hands signify the support for justice, healing and life; an open book denoting education, learning, knowledge and wisdom and a map of the Republic of India denoting the university’s service to the nation. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery and the colour brown symbolises earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition. RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES The emblem of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is an expression of the confluence of both Eastern and Western Health Sciences. It has a staff with entwined a pair of serpents and wings, symbolising Gods of Health - Hermes and Mercury, is adapted as a symbol of medicine and medical sciences. The pot atop the wand is Amrutha Kalasham of Dhanvanthri, the father of all health sciences. The wings represent the human soul called Hamsa. The rising sun symbolises knowledge and enlightenment. The pair of twigs of leaves symbolise olive branches Vanaspathi (Aushadi) held in the hands of Dhanvanthri. The lamp at the bottom depicts human energy or kundalini. The motto inscribed at the bottom in Sanskrit ‘देवहितम यदायुः’ (1.89.8, Rig Veda) meaning ‘May we Live the Full Span of Our Lives allotted by God in Perfect Health’.

This is ensconced by a decorative circle. The circle is bordered with an yellow circle which bears the name of the university in Kannada and English. Below the seal a convoy of two farmers with their cattle is placed. KARNATAK UNIVERSITY DHARWAD The blue and green emblem of Karnatak University Dharwad (KUD) has a shield holding the motifs of a banyan tree crested by an open book supported by an elephant and a bull, its motto in Kannada on a white banner and a rising sun over a water body. Below the shield, on a banner the name of the university is written. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the elephant and the bullock denote the symbols of the State of Karnataka; the rising sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the waterbody denotes life, motion and fertility; the banyan tree denotes strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity and the open book refers to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom. KANNADA UNIVERSITY The emblem of Kannada University (KU) is based on the head part of the Halmidi inscription from the year 540 AD  is meaningful and therefore is adopted by the university as its motif. The motto of the university in Kannada ‘ಮಾತೆಂಬುದು ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಲಿಂಗ’ (Vachana, Allamaprabhu) meaning ‘The Word is Jyotirlinga’ is inscribed on a banner at the bottom of the seal, which is inspired from the Harappan culture.

On a blue banner at the bottom of the seal its motto in Kannada ‘ನ್ಯಾಯವೇ ದೇವರು’ meaning 'Justice is God'  is written. The banner supports an open book which refers to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom. The seal is crested by the seal of the Government of Karnataka.

The surmounting border of the arch has its name written in Kannada and the supporting arch at the bottom has in English. A banner supporting the seal at the bottom has its motto in Kannada ‘ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ, ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ’ meaning ‘Higher Education For Everyone, Everywhere’ written on.
