The emblem of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has a globe flown over by a bird with pages of book as wings denoting the opportunity of learning across the globe, supported by a computer and satellite antenna to denote the technology used for the open education. The surmounting border of the arch has its name written in Kannada and the supporting arch at the bottom has in English. A banner supporting the seal at the bottom has its motto in Kannada ‘ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ, ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ’ meaning ‘Higher Education For Everyone, Everywhere’ written on.
