The emblem of Davangere University (DU) is designed on the theme to save the planet earth with the theme of  ‘inclusion and sustainability through education’. The outline of faces in the logo depicts the youth power moving ahead with a mission of development for humanity. The laurels on either side of the globe signify the sustainable approach to protect the environment and earth. The book symbolises the knowledge which is open to everyone to achieve the end. The motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा  ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ is inscribed on a banner placed below the globe. The colour scheme of the logo relates to the atmosphere, colour brown is for mother earth, orange for learning, green for life and environment and colour yellow for expansion.
