The emblem of M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) features a pictorial of a shield in orange to purple tones, depicting a swan, the symbol of knowledge, as it flies towards the sun, the universal symbol of wisdom and enlightenment, that is depicted using an asterisk. The swan in flight illustrates our unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge. The subtle shield that encases the swan represents the trust and legacy of the Ramaiah Group, built over years of hard work and service to society. This identity, serves a reminder of the values of empowerment, commitment, simplicity, and inclusiveness. It also strikes the right balance between the group’s rich heritage and its modern, forward outlook.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

UDAYANATH COLLEGE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (UCST) The blue emblem of Udayanath College of Science & Technology (UCST) features Urdhva Pundra - a tilak of a Vaishnava sect with its middle stroke depicted as a flame of fire. An abstract depiction of the holy river Prachi supports the tilak. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is placed on a decorated platform. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written is inscribed on the front side of the platform. WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Its insignia has a ‘trishul’ and an eagle in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘Akashmasthseema’ in golden border is placed at the bottom.

The emblem of the university symbolises various systems of medicine viz., medical, dental, Indian medicine, homoeopathy and allied health sciences. It also depicts the global character of preventive, promotive and curative medicine. The motto ‘Health for all’ reflects the objective of the medical university. The circular emblem has a caduceus, the staff of Hermes staff entwined with a snake with a backdrop of a banyan tree and crested by a sun has a yellow banner at the bottom which says in Tamil ‘நோயற்ற வாழ்வு’ meaning ‘A Disease-free Life’.
