Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) features a pictorial of a shield in orange to purple tones, depicting a swan, the symbol of knowledge, as it flies towards the sun, the universal symbol of wisdom and enlightenment, that is depicted using an asterisk. The swan in flight illustrates our unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge. The subtle shield that encases the swan represents the trust and legacy of the Ramaiah Group, built over years of hard work and service to society. This identity, serves a reminder of the values of empowerment, commitment, simplicity, and inclusiveness. It also strikes the right balance between the group’s rich heritage and its modern, forward outlook.

VALLABHACHARYA TILAK The tilak of Vallbhacharyas is said to consist of two white lines down the forehead, forming a half-circle at its base and a white dot between them. Vallabhacharya (1479–1531 CE) was a devotional philosopher, who founded the Pushti sect in India, following the philosophy of ‘Shuddha Advaita’ (Pure Non-dualism). He wrote a very important commentary called ‘Shri Bhashya’. The Vallabhacharya sect worships Krishna in his character of Bala Gopala.

THE JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY India's first Light Infantry was born out of the peoples' response in 1947, to the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistan. In the difficult days of the invasion, the population formed local defence groups. These were later organised into militias responsible for specific sectors, e.g., Leh, Nubra, Jammu, Punch, etc. Over a period, these were grouped into the Militia battalions. Two of these were later converted into the Ladakh Scouts. The militia battalions operated with skill on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the 1971 Indo-Pak War earned three battle honours. In 1972, the militia battalions were brought on par with the army units, and in 1976 designated the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI). The 8th JAK LI earned great honour by capturing a Pakistani post at 21,000 feet at the Siachen Glacier in 1987.
