MANGALORE UNIVERSITY

The emblem of Mangalore University (MU) depicts its geography, history and tradition through a number of motifs. In the centre of a circle the motifs of rising sun above mountains and waterbody and trees are  placed representing the geography of the locale. It is ensconced by a yellow circular border on which its name is inscribed in Kannada and English. The circular seal is crested by a colourful headgear or ‘kirita’ of the famous folk dance form ‘Yakshagana’ and supported on either side by coffee plant branches with leaves and fruits for which the city and the State of Karnataka are famous for. At the bottom of the insignia, on a blue banner the motto of the university in Kannada ‘ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ-ಬೆಳಕು’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Light’ is inscribed.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY JAMSHEDPUR National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur) or NITJSR) was formally inaugurated on August 15, 1960 at Adityapur. On December 27, 2002 RIT, Jamshedpur was upgraded to National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur with the Deemed University status. Its insignia in the form of an oblong shield has a number of elements and motifs within. Its name and place supported by two laurels of cereals; map of India within a gear wheel circumscribed by a revolving line; an electrical transmission tower; a scientific experiment; a burning lamp; a reservoir dam and a banner with its motto ‘शंन ॠभवः सुकृतः सुहस्ताः’ meaning ‘Well Done Well Handled’.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT ROHTAK Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (IIMR) is the IIM established by the Government of India in 2009. The peacock in its emblem represents the exuberance and pride in IIM Rohtak’s vision to be a global leader, while the Sanskrit words which read ‘Management Through Knowledge and Values’ (ज्ञानेन गुणेन च प्रबंधः) signify IIM Rohtak’s mission of knowledge diffusion, social commitment and value system (or corporate governance). Green circle represents the nature and environment that is fundamental to society’s progress and human happiness, whereas the red circle represents the vibrancy of the youth that energises education and sustains the progress of society. The white colour in the logo represents the underlying sense of purpose and the goal of social progress, while the open book signifies knowledge creation and dissemination.

Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) is one of the prestigious engineering colleges in Karnataka. Established in 1997. VVCE is an autonomous institute affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. Its emblem is a gearwheel with sixteen teeth in a dark violet colour encompassing a yellow border and a light green circle. The border carries the name of the college. The light green circle has a magnetic circuit, a manufacturing plant, a satellite, a dish antenna and a transmission tower, a tree, a bridge, a computer and a flask. This covers all the major areas of learning in the college. Its acronym is placed below the emblem.

Aurora - the name of the institution is derived from Aurora Borealis, the celestial northern lights. It also has association with the Sun God Apollo and the Roman Goddess of Dawn, Aurora. The logo has three critical components - the Italian colours - lilac and wild pink; the Egyptian pyramid signifying the letter A and most importantly, the logo being emblematic of the spirit of the university -'The Temple of Learning'. The concept and the colours are offbeat for the geography and for an educational institution.

It was rechristened as National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra on June 26, 2002. Its brown colour emblem is a gear wheel, in whose border the name of the institute and the place is written. In a circle within the gear a bow and an upward pointing arrow is placed. The bow radiates energy. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ANDHRA PRADESH National Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh (NIT AP) is the thirty-first institution among the chain of NITs started by the Government of India. NIT Andhra Pradesh was established in the state of Andhra Pradesh recently in the academic year 2015-2016. Its circular emblem has a ‘Poorna Kumbham’ or ‘Kalasha’ which means ‘Full or Complete Vessel’ when the pot is referred to as the Kalasha. The Purna-Kalasha is considered a symbol of abundance and 'Source of Life' in the Vedas. Purna-Kumbha is a Vedic motif, known from the time of Rigveda. It is held above the lotus, which is supported by a book and a pair of laurels of cereal on both the sides. These are ensconced in a circle, which is closed by a circular gear wheel, on which the name of the institute in Hindi and English and its tagline ‘श्रमेव जयते’ meaning ‘Hard Work Triumphs’ are written.

Its logo has ‘HMDA’ written in lowercase larger x-height in black and round cornered sans serif letters in black with its motto ‘Growing Global’ at the bottom.
