Below these, on a red banner ‘University’ is written. At the bottom, its motto ‘Knowledge is Power’ is written. The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the torch represents enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the open book represents education, learning, knowledge and wisdom and the mortarboard or oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage.

At the bottom, a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘‘கற்றனைத் தூறும் அறிவு’ (Thiruvalluvar, 396, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Knowledge Grows As Much As One Learns’ is inscribed is placed on the seal. Athiyaman and Avvaiyar refer to history and heritage; the book, sun and the humans refer to education and educational achievement; the tree refers to nature, sustenance and growth; the computer refers to technology; and the dam refers to the local landmark.
