KARNATAKA FOLKLORE UNIVERSITY

The brown and yellow circular emblem of Karnataka Folklore University (KFU) has a brown circle with the Kannada acronym of the university placed on it. This is ensconced by a decorative circle. The circle is bordered with an yellow circle which bears the name of the university in Kannada and English. Below the seal a convoy of two farmers with their cattle is placed. Below this, on a banner its motto in Kannada ‘ಹೊನ್ನ ಬಿತ್ತೇವು ಹೊಲಕೆಲ್ಲ’ (Kannada Folk Literature) meaning ‘We Sow Gold Seeds in All Fields’ is written. The colour brown symbolises  earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition and the colour yellow symbolises happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.

VALLABHACHARYA TILAK The tilak of Vallbhacharyas is said to consist of two white lines down the forehead, forming a half-circle at its base and a white dot between them. Vallabhacharya (1479–1531 CE) was a devotional philosopher, who founded the Pushti sect in India, following the philosophy of ‘Shuddha Advaita’ (Pure Non-dualism). THE JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY India's first Light Infantry was born out of the peoples' response in 1947, to the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistan. In the difficult days of the invasion, the population formed local defence groups. These were later organised into militias responsible for specific sectors, e.g., Leh, Nubra, Jammu, Punch, etc. Over a period, these were grouped into the Militia battalions. Two of these were later converted into the Ladakh Scouts. The militia battalions operated with skill on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the 1971 Indo-Pak War earned three battle honours. In 1972, the militia battalions were brought on par with the army units, and in 1976 designated the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI). The 8th JAK LI earned great honour by capturing a Pakistani post at 21,000 feet at the Siachen Glacier in 1987. MAHATMA GANDHI CHITRAKOOT GRAMODAY VISHWAVIDYALAYA The emblem of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) has a crown of wheat supported by the footwear of Mahatma Gandhi with a rising sun in the background. These are supported by a partial wheel of gear, in the counter of which its motto in Sanskrit ‘विश्वं ग्रामे प्रतिष्टितम्' meaning 'The World is Established from the Village' is inscribed. The crown of wheat symbolises agriculture and village produce; the pair of footwear of Mahatma denote that the university follows in the footsteps of his ideals; the rising sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity and the gear wheel denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.

BUREAU OF POLICE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT The Government of India vide Resolution No.8/136/68-P.I (Pers.I) dated 28.08.1970 formally established the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), under the Ministry of Home Affairs giving a new orientation to then existing Police Research and Advisory Council in 1966 with the primary objective of modernization of police force: 1. to take direct and active interest in the issues, 2. to promote a speedy and systematic study of the police problems and 3. to apply science and technology in the methods and techniques used by police. The Bureau was established with the Research, Statistics and Publication division and Development division initially with a well laid out charter of duties.
