Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune (IIIT-Pune) is an institute of national importance established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India and Industry partners on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis. Its emblem in the form of a medieval shield has been divided into five parts with the centre having its acronym depicted as three persons sitting in front in a class facing a board or computer supported by two pairs of stars and other parts have a book, a satellite, an atomic structure and a computer emitting binary. The shield has red and grey borders and its name is written in a circular form around the shield. Its motto ‘Leading Technology Leveraging Technology’ is written on a blue banner at the bottom.

(PDCC Bank) has a motif of yellow gear wheel housing a farmer tilling the land with a pair of cattle and plough circumscribed by its name in Devanagari and supported by its year of inception and its tagline in Sanskrit ‘सत् फलाय् सहकारिता’ meaning ‘Public Benefit Through Cooperation’. A pair of laurels supports the motifs on the sides and a banner and its initials at the bottom. All these are placed on a blue rectangular panel. The farmer refers to agriculture and agricultural financing; the gear wheel refers to industry and industrial financing and the laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

THE DOGRA REGIMENT The Dogras who form the hardy and loyal population of the hill regions of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir have a long tradition of soldiering. The Dogras formed into a regiment in 1887 and three Dogra Regiments were raised as part of the Bengal Infantry and the Dogra Scouts come under the aegis of the Dogra Regiment. Its Regimental Centre is Fazizbad, Uttar Pradesh and its insignia is a tiger, revered as the mount of Goddess Durga, who is a widely worshipped deity in the Dogra Hills. Its Regimental motto is ‘Kartavyam Anvatma’ (Duty Before Death) and its war cry is ‘Jawala Mata Ki Jai’ (Victory to Goddess Jawala). Its insignia is A Tiger, revered as the mount of Goddess Durga, who is a widely worshipped deity in these regions.

GUJARAT VIDYAPITH Gujarat Vidyapith was founded by Mahatma Gandhi on October 18, 1920. Gujarat Vidyapith has been a deemed university since 1963. The emblem of the university is an open lotus flower. In it, in Devanagari script, is written ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘Knowledge is That which Liberates (us)’. In Arabic it is written ‘al hikamato zallatual monimine fahaiso uajedaha ahakko leha’. The banyan tree in the emblem signifies growth. There is also the moon that symbolises beauty, calmness and development. Lotus shows non-attachment and holy spirit and the lamps on either side in a circle symbolise knowledge. The university was established for the purpose of achieving independence. The object of political independence was temporary but the devotion for self-liberation and knowledge are its permanent ideals. This devotion should continue to grow like a banyan tree and moon with a spirit of non-attachment of a lotus.

RABINDRA BHARATI UNIVERSITY Rabindra Bharati University was founded on May 8, 1962, under the Rabindra Bharati Act to mark the birth centenary of poet Rabindranath Tagore at his residential house at Kolkata. The emblem of the university is a modified version of Vishva Bharati University in square shape with woodcut like elements dividing the square into six parts. The upper part bears the name of the university in Bengali and in the centre a lotus with sixteen petals holding a book of palm leaf manuscript. The side panels house a pen in one and a vina and the bottom panels hold a swastika, its name in Devanagari and a mask of folk dance. NORTHERN COMMAND The Indian Army’s Northern Command is deployed in and responsible for the security of India’s borders with China and Pakistan in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Northern Command with its headquarters located in Udhampur has three major formations viz. the Leh based XIV Corps responsible for the Ladakh region including Kargil-Dras and Siachen Glacier, the Srinagar based XV Corps looking after the sensitive borders of the Kashmir region and XVI Corps located in Nagrota responsible for the Jammu region. The Northern Command War Memorial Dhruva or Northern Star is a symbol of gallantry and sacrifice of its brave soldiers.
