GOVERNMENT E MARKETPLACE

Based on recommendations of the Group of Secretaries, it was decided to set up a dedicated e market for different goods and services procured by Government organisations, departments and PSUs. This meant transforming DGS&D to a digital ecommerce portal for procurement and selling of goods and services. Government e Marketplace (GeM) aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. The logo of GeM has several arrow shaped graphical structures, which depicts collaboration, coordination and facilitation between government entities and private vendors. It also contains the acronym and full form of the name, along with the motto ‘Efficient Transparent, Inclusive’.

It is established in the year 1965. Its emblem has a map of India lit with a traditional lamp spreading light and crested by a gopuram, which symbolise the reverence to the nation and treating it as God. It is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘राष्ट्रदेवो भव’ meaning ‘Nation is God’ and a book meaning knowledge and wisdom. According to Shaiva tradition, the goddess Parvati presented the Vel to her son Murugan, as an embodiment of her shakti, in order to vanquish the asura Surapadman.  The name of the college surmounts the book and its motto ‘Be the Best’ and ‘2001’ supports it. EMBLEM OF MADHYA PRADESH  Madhya Pradesh was created in 1950 from the former British Central Provinces and Berar and the princely states of Makrai and Chhattisgarh, with Nagpur as the capital of the state. The new States of Madhya Bharat, Vindhya Pradesh and Bhopal were formed out of the Central India Agency.
