SAPTAGIRI GRAMEENA BANK Saptagiri Grameena Bank (SGB) has been formed with the merger of Sri Venkateswara Grameena Bank, Chittoor, Chittoor district and Kanakadurga Grameena Bank, Gudivada, Krishna District with effect from from July 1, 2006 with head office at Chittoor. The circular dark blue emblem of the bank has a motif of one Rupee coin above a pair of crossed golden bars forming four quadrants in a circle. These quadrants have motifs of a milch cow; tobacco and sugarcane plant; a tractor and a gear on micro scale industry. Formerly called Guru Ghasidas University (GGU), established by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly, was formally inaugurated on June 16, 1983. The insignia of the institution has a innumerable concentric petalled lotus in a red circle encircled by its name and motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञान पंथ कृपान कै धारा’ meaning ‘Cult of Knowledge is Through the Blessings’ and is ensconced in a blue gear wheel turning clockwise.
