The emblem of Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT) features a structure of an atom, a laptop computer, an open book, a satellite dish antenna and a satellite; its name and place; its motto in Sanskrit ‘श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानम्’ (Verse 39, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘The Believer Attains Knowledge’; on a yellow circle. Below the circle, on a banner, the motto in Kannada ‘ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾವಾನ್ ಲಭತೇ ಜ್ಞಾನಂ’ is inscribed. The motifs in the circle represent the subject disciplines of engineering, learning, education and knowledge.

Engineering education in BHU started in 1919 with the establishment of Banaras Engineering College (BENCO).
